![]() The only thing that's faster/better are the handful of mac native games (either intel or arm). I use shadow.tech for the latter, which does vastly better than virtualized windows ever did (even with an external GPU on an intel Mac), and runs circles around my M1 using Fusion, parallels, or crossover. ![]() Honestly, if you want to play anything that has any sort of real graphics load, I'd suggest using either a real PC or a cloud gaming service. Crossover is another option for some games, which does have better performance than either Fusion or Parallels, but much less compatibility (and it's pretty darn fiddly to get working). At least I'll be able to stop licensing both :-). Even then, I expect performance to be similar to Parallels. The internal windows emulation layer, coupled with the translation from DirectX to apple silicon GPU is a lot of overhead.įusion today doesn't have that capability in place, but I expect them to when the new tech preview comes out (which should be soon given that Sonoma was released to developers today). Parallels does OK right now for Intel games on Windows 11 ARM, but it's not great. If you do not encrypt the VM and configure the TPM device, you must hack the Windows registry keys in order to get Windows 11 to ignore the requirements for the TPM device and Secure Boot. For more information, please see the FAQ in this article.ĭirectX 12, a suite of multimedia technologies frequently used in Windows games and other apps, is not supported.Īnd yes, this is the article that is describing how they are touting Parallels as their supported solution for Apple Silicon Macs. You will also see a performance decrease in the VM due to Fusion's encryption overhead. ![]() Windows 11 includes a more robust Rosetta-like x8664 translation feature that allows you to run a wide variety of applications compiled for Windows on Intel architectures. The Arm version of Windows 11 has limitations that can impact your ability to use various types of hardware, games, and apps, including those that rely on DirectX 12 or OpenG元.3 or greater. Windows 11 ARM is the version of Windows supported by VMware for use with Fusion 13 on Apple Silicon Macs. Windows 11 ARM does not have the graphics support that its counterparts on the Intel side have. Or, you might want to take a look at the Unofficial Fusion 13 for. Developers have long since realized that one of the great features of a modern Mac system is that it can also run Windows really well. Review the Fusion documentation on how to install those tools on Windows 11 ARM. Select the Installer disc image file (iso) option. Simply clicking on Install VMware Tools in the Fusion menu bar will not automatically install the tools (video and network driver only) like they do on Intel Windows VMs. Select Create a New Virtual Machine in the main window. To create a Windows 11 virtual machine, launch VMWare Workstation Player and: 1. Maybe not even then unless VMware and Microsoft pull a rabbit out of their hats. Step 1: Create Windows 11 Virtual Machine. My guess is that you'll need to wait until we get full tools. ![]() There's no 3d acceleration yet, though I expect a new tech preview shortly now that WWDC is underway, and that should have full tools (or at least I hope it does). Will also guide you to install the temporary video drivers. ![]()
